Overview
The Solution Architect for Finance Migration will spearhead the transition from a legacy finance platform to Workday Financial Management as part of a significant Finance Transformation Programme for a major retailer. This role requires collaborating with finance leaders, technology teams, and other stakeholders to define the architecture and integration strategies essential for this migration initiative. The position combines leadership in architectural design with a focus on compliance and governance throughout the project's lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Lead the solution architecture for migrating to Workday Financials.
- Define 'as-is', target, and transition architectures across finance, data, integrations, and reporting.
- Design integration architecture between Workday and surrounding systems.
- Shape the data migration strategy, including mapping, transformation, and reconciliation.
- Collaborate with Workday functional leads to align configuration and business processes.
- Ensure the solution meets non-functional requirements such as security and compliance.
- Provide architectural governance across systems integrator partners and internal teams.
- Support planning, testing strategy, and readiness for go-live.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect on large-scale finance transformation programmes.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Financials, having delivered at least one end-to-end implementation.
- Strong understanding of finance processes, including accounts payable/receivable and general ledger.
- Experience migrating from legacy finance/ERP systems like Oracle or SAP.
- Deep knowledge of integration patterns such as REST, SOAP, and middleware.
- Extensive data migration and modelling experience in a finance context.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management skills and ability to influence across business and technology sectors.
- Effective communication skills for presenting designs to architecture authorities.
