Overview
The Solutions Architect will play a key role in supporting the architectural transformation programme for a government department within a consultancy partner environment. This position involves hands-on development of architectural capabilities and governance frameworks while also mentoring other architects. The role focuses on enhancing enterprise-wide architecture practices and requires a strong background in Azure.
Responsibilities
- Support the Enterprise Architect in piloting and embedding a new architecture operating model and governance framework.
- Provide end-to-end solution architecture input into the project, including design artefacts and governance approvals.
- Act as a pathfinder for new ways of working, ensuring alignment with the architecture maturity roadmap.
- Coach and mentor existing and new Solution Architects, embedding good practice and architectural discipline.
- Contribute to architecture maturity initiatives and continuous improvement activities across the function.
Requirements
- Experience working within UK Government (including GDS programmes) – essential.
- Azure / Microsoft certifications and experience – highly desirable.
- Strong experience delivering solution architecture within complex public sector or regulated environments.
- Deep understanding of enterprise architecture governance, frameworks, and processes.
- Proven track record implementing or improving architecture operating models.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
