Overview

We are seeking a Payments Solutions Architect to design and govern end-to-end payment processing architecture within a financial services environment. The role focuses on ensuring regulatory compliance and operational resilience while facilitating seamless integration with various clearing and settlement infrastructures. The architect will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to implement a robust payment processing framework that supports the organization's goals.

Responsibilities

  • Design the complete payment instruction lifecycle, covering generation, validation, routing, confirmation, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure high availability and operational resilience for payment processing.
  • Architect month-end and quarter-end waterfall processing for accurate settlement calculations.
  • Define service-oriented and event-driven architectures utilizing Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot.
  • Design integrations supporting SWIFT MT, ISO 20022, and other messaging standards.
  • Create adapter-based integration architectures for connectivity with clearing systems.
  • Establish reconciliation frameworks and audit trails for payment instructions.
  • Ensure architecture aligns with regulatory compliance and operational controls.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin, and Spring Boot for application architecture.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL, Kafka, and event-driven architecture.
  • Familiarity with payment processing platforms and settlement systems.
  • Strong knowledge of reconciliation frameworks and compliance controls.
  • Preferred experience with Bottomline payment hub and major clearing networks like Euroclear or Clearstream.
  • Background in regulated payments environments and capital markets operations is desirable.
  • Experience in designing distributed transaction systems and securing payment processes.
