Overview
This role seeks an experienced SQL DBA specializing in PostgreSQL to provide support and maintenance for infrastructure and database environments on various customer projects. The selected contractor will work fully remote and focus on database administration, performance tuning, and system reliability, while also interfacing with other database technologies like MongoDB and SQL. The position is for an initial three-month contract, with a likelihood of extension as part of a broader long-term program.
Responsibilities
- Administer PostgreSQL (Postgres) databases, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Perform MongoDB administration and support tasks as needed.
- Execute SQL queries, optimizations, and troubleshooting to enhance database performance.
- Oversee infrastructure and systems administration across production environments.
- Manage backups, apply patches, and execute upgrades to maintain database integrity.
- Support system improvements, migrations, and ongoing database maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a PostgreSQL (Postgres) DBA in production environments.
- Commercial experience with MongoDB administration.
- Strong competency in SQL for database querying and optimization.
- Background in infrastructure support and system administration.
- Ability to troubleshoot critical database and infrastructure issues effectively.
- Experience with database maintenance tasks such as backups and upgrades.
