Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join an innovative team dedicated to transforming the data infrastructure of the blue collar industry. This role involves working closely with AI founders to build robust backend systems that turn unstructured data into actionable insights. The selected contractor will have significant autonomy in shaping the backend architecture and will be instrumental in creating data pipelines, APIs, and optimized queries in a dynamic startup environment.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the backend architecture for the project.
- Build custom data pipelines to handle unstructured inputs.
- Design and implement REST APIs for data access and manipulation.
- Optimize low latency queries to enhance system performance.
- Establish standards for testing, CI/CD, and deployment practices.
- Orchestrate workflows using tools akin to Airflow.
- Collaborate directly with AI founders to align backend capabilities with business objectives.
Requirements
- Minimum of six years of experience in backend engineering.
- Deep expertise in Python programming.
- Proven track record of developing production-ready data pipelines.
- Experience creating and deploying REST APIs.
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL, FastAPI, Docker, and cloud platforms like GCP/AWS.
- A builder's mindset with experience in startup environments.
- Strong ability to work independently on greenfield engineering projects.
