Overview
As a Sustainability Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the Paper Sourcing & Procurement Sustainability team, focusing on evaluating and managing sustainability risks within the company's operations and supply chain. You will collaborate closely with various departments to ensure alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives, while also engaging with suppliers and stakeholders to implement effective risk management strategies. This position is hybrid, allowing for 2-3 days in the office and is contracted until June 2026.
Responsibilities
- Support the development and implementation of strategies to reduce Scope 3 emissions in line with corporate sustainability goals.
- Define and manage the risk assessment process for strategic suppliers to achieve group-related targets.
- Monitor relevant laws, regulations, and sustainability standards to ensure compliance across the organization.
- Engage with suppliers to assist with onboarding to risk screening platforms and facilitate timely action on identified risks.
- Prepare regular reports and presentations on sustainability risk assessments and mitigation efforts.
- Integrate sustainable sourcing considerations into procurement processes and supplier relationships.
- Conduct assessments to identify sustainability risks including environmental, human rights, and ethical sourcing issues.
- Develop and maintain risk tolerances and decision frameworks for supplier ethical sourcing risks.
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of the Responsible Sourcing agenda within the packaging or food and drink industry.
- Experience with SEDEX and ethical screening and auditing methods (e.g., SMETA, Ecovadis).
- Bachelor's degree preferred, with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in sustainable sourcing and human rights programs.
- Proven ability to conduct sustainability risk assessments in a corporate or consulting setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting with sustainability metrics.
- Demonstrated project management experience, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Passion for sustainability and experience in driving positive change within supply chains.
