Overview
We are seeking a Senior/Lead Systems Engineer on a contract basis to take ownership of the corporate compute and platform estate for a company undergoing technical changes. The successful candidate will work 2-3 days a week on-site, leading the management of servers, virtualisation, storage, domain infrastructure, and cloud workloads. This is a hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and who can operate independently while navigating low-maturity processes.
Responsibilities
- Own and manage the corporate compute and platform estate.
- Implement and oversee servers, virtualisation, storage, and domain infrastructure.
- Lead cloud workload management, specifically with GCP, Azure, or AWS.
- Utilize infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
- Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and patch management processes.
- Collaborate on networking fundamentals, including VLANs and static routing.
- Automate processes using scripting languages like PowerShell and Python.
- Support high-availability and resilience designs for critical infrastructure.
Requirements
- Expert-level experience in systems engineering with Windows Server, virtualisation, and storage.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, specifically GCP, Azure, or AWS.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Bicep.
- Strong networking fundamentals equivalent to CCNA-level knowledge.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation, specifically in PowerShell and Python.
- Background in managing identity, cloud, and endpoint systems is preferred.
- Experience in environments related to games, VFX, or technical creative studios is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
