Overview

We are seeking a Technical Project Manager with extensive experience in managing the end-to-end delivery of software-based railway products. The role involves working within Agile delivery environments and APM frameworks to ensure that all safety, quality, cost, and scheduling objectives are met. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, providing technical leadership and fostering continuous improvement in project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle delivery of software-based railway products from concept to closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project management plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and manage safety cases and hazard logs.
  • Lead the integration of software and hardware within projects and oversee system architecture.
  • Facilitate Agile methodologies, including sprint ceremonies and backlog management.
  • Engage with stakeholders to manage expectations and communication effectively.
  • Support commercial aspects including change control and supplier performance management.
  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams to enhance collaboration and performance.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with railway software/control systems and systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Strong knowledge of APM principles and Agile frameworks, particularly in safety-critical environments.
  • Experience using project management tools such as Polarion or JIRA for tracking software changes.
  • Degree in Engineering/Computer Science and related qualifications or certifications.
  • Familiarity with UK rail standards and relevant safety compliance regulations.
  • Desirable to have experience with technologies such as TM, ETCS, and cybersecurity in rail environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage multidisciplinary teams effectively.
  • Track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.
