Overview

The Project Engineer will support the delivery of essential telecommunications projects throughout Scotland, collaborating closely with project managers, field engineers, and network operations teams. This role entails a mix of hands-on engineering work and project delivery responsibilities, ensuring the successful implementation of network infrastructure while providing technical expertise at all stages of the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning, delivery, and implementation of telecommunications infrastructure projects.
  • Install, configure, and commission networking and telecommunications equipment.
  • Conduct site surveys and technical assessments prior to installation.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Produce and maintain accurate technical documentation and network diagrams.
  • Create project handover documentation and keep customer records updated.
  • Collaborate with project managers, field engineers, and network operations teams to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Generate Health & Safety documentation, including RAMS and POWRA assessments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in delivering telecommunications or network infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, encompassing LAN, WAN, and MPLS technologies.
  • CCNA-level networking knowledge or equivalent practical experience.
  • Excellent understanding of routing, switching, and data networking principles.
  • Hands-on experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with Nokia networking platforms, specifically Nokia SAR-H and Nokia NFM-P.
  • Familiarity with XTran technology.
  • Proficient in producing technical drawings using Microsoft Visio.
