Overview

The Telecoms Project Network Engineer will engage in critical utility and telecommunications network infrastructure projects across Scotland, focusing on the planning, coordination, and delivery of complex technical projects. This field-based role requires collaboration with customers, conducting site surveys, and supervising field engineers to ensure projects meet high standards of safety and compliance. The engineer will leverage their expertise in IP networking and project delivery to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Managers in planning, coordinating, and delivering multiple concurrent projects.
  • Conduct site surveys and provide engineering recommendations for implementation.
  • Install, configure, commission, and test IP networking and telecom equipment.
  • Produce quality documentation, including network diagrams and handover packs.
  • Coordinate activities with Field Engineers and customer stakeholders.
  • Represent the engineering team in customer meetings and support complex fault investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications and health & safety standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and engineering quality.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a telecoms field engineer with a track record in infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco and/or Nokia networking technologies.
  • Experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of telecom systems.
  • Strong understanding of LAN, WAN, and IP networking principles.
  • Proficiency in project planning, validation, and scheduling.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
  • Experience with high voltage utility infrastructure is desirable.
  • Certifications such as NRSWA, EUSR, or IOSH are advantageous.
