Overview
The Test Manager will oversee the testing function for a large-scale digital transformation programme in the public health sector, ensuring quality governance and accountability. This role involves managing the day-to-day test activities, collaborating with both internal teams and external suppliers, and serving as the primary contact for client-side governance processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for evolving the test strategy and ensuring compliance with safety-critical standards throughout the project's life cycle.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the programme's QA strategy, ensuring risk-based assurance and in-sprint quality practices.
- Represent the test function in client governance forums and present quality reports to senior stakeholders.
- Plan, coordinate, and report on test execution across sprints while upholding the Definition of Done.
- Maintain traceability from requirements to defects in Azure DevOps to meet clinical safety case evidence standards.
- Implement defect management policies by logging and triaging defects based on clinical risk.
- Coordinate integration testing with external suppliers and manage dependencies at the FHIR integration boundary.
- Enforce quality gates within the CI/CD pipeline, including E2E execution and release sign-off criteria.
- Manage a team of test engineers, supporting their development and overseeing capacity planning.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in testing, with at least 3 years in test management roles.
- Experience in safety-critical or heavily regulated environments such as healthcare or financial services.
- Proficient in Azure DevOps, particularly in managing test plans and pipeline-integrated quality gates.
- Demonstrated client-facing experience, particularly in presenting and defending quality positions.
- Experience with multi-vendor integration testing and coordinating efforts across organizational boundaries.
- Familiarity with risk-based testing approaches and ensuring defensible test evidence.
- Proven experience in line or matrix management of test engineers and mentoring junior staff.
- Knowledge of HL7 FHIR or other healthcare standards is desirable.
