Overview
The Underwriting Transformation Director will lead a significant modernization program aimed at transitioning from manual underwriting practices to a data-driven, digital approach. Working primarily in a remote capacity with some required travel, the contractor will collaborate with various internal stakeholders to improve underwriting processes and governance, ultimately enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making capabilities within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct rapid diagnostics to define a target underwriting operating model.
- Deliver a focused transformation roadmap with measurable outcomes.
- Standardise and digitise underwriting processes, rules, and decision frameworks.
- Enhance data analytics and automation to improve underwriting decisions.
- Strengthen governance, controls, authority, and referral frameworks.
- Improve workflow efficiency, case handling, and turnaround times.
- Align underwriting practices with pricing, claims, and portfolio management.
Requirements
- Proven leader with experience in large-scale underwriting transformation programmes.
- Strong background in facilitating manual-to-digital transitions including automation and data management.
- Deep understanding of underwriting performance, risk selection, and governance.
- Experience in managing executive stakeholder relationships with a hands-on delivery mindset.
