Overview
The role of Lead User Researcher involves spearheading user research efforts for a new public sector engagement within an innovative technology consultancy. This position offers a remote-first working arrangement, requiring only one day per month on-site in either Manchester or London. The selected contractor will collaborate closely with a multi-disciplined team to generate insights that drive evidence-based decisions, ensuring user research is embedded in the agile workflow of the project.
Responsibilities
- Own the user research process in a rapidly iterative development environment.
- Choose appropriate research methods to understand user needs across all product life cycle stages.
- Identify participant samples for testing and plan research sessions with defined roadmaps.
- Support research operations, facilitating recruitment and advising on necessary software tools.
- Analyze data to provide clear, actionable insights to teams and stakeholders.
- Engage with clients and team members to highlight the value of user research.
- Collaborate on setting objectives and hypotheses for ongoing research.
Requirements
- Proven experience in user research with a wide range of methodologies beyond usability testing.
- Strong skills in formative discovery methods, ethnographic observation, and A/B testing.
- Ability to collect and manage research data adhering to GDPR and ethical guidelines.
- Experience in communicating research findings through various outputs like customer journey maps and personas.
- Familiarity with collaborating with design teams to address user needs in prototypes.
- Competence in conducting inclusive research for users with diverse accessibility needs.
- Ability to rapidly establish research processes in new environments.
