Overview
We are looking for an experienced User-Centred Design (UCD) Designer to join a dynamic team for a 6-week contract focused on the Discovery and Alpha phases of a project within a UK Government digital department. The ideal candidate will leverage their fast-paced experience in public sector environments to rapidly translate user needs into effective design outcomes, ensuring high standards of accessibility and design quality throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Lead the transition from Discovery to Alpha by synthesizing insights into actionable design concepts.
- Define Minimum Viable Product (MVP) options using MoSCoW prioritization to meet project deadlines.
- Develop lean, testable prototypes to validate ideas with users early in the design process.
- Incorporate WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards into every stage of the design process.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quickly and effectively within UK Central Government or public sector contexts.
- Experience working within the GOV.UK Service Manual framework and Design System.
- Skilled in transforming ambiguous findings into clear, testable design concepts.
- Proficient in using MoSCoW prioritization and impact mapping to guide project timelines.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive design principles and WCAG 2.1 AA compliance requirements.
