Data Scientist

Overview

The Data Scientist will play a key role in leveraging data to enhance customer experiences and drive commercial outcomes within a retail-focused organization. Collaborating closely with various teams, the contractor will develop and deploy predictive models while analyzing large datasets to derive actionable insights that inform strategic decisions. This role involves presenting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and contributes to ongoing improvements in data science practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deploy predictive models to support customer, marketing, and commercial initiatives.
  • Analyse large customer and transactional datasets to identify actionable business insights.
  • Build segmentation, propensity, forecasting, and recommendation models.
  • Partner with stakeholders across marketing, operations, and commercial teams to translate business requirements into analytical solutions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Support the ongoing improvement of data science best practices and model performance monitoring.

Requirements

  • Strong experience applying data science techniques within a commercial environment.
  • Advanced Python skills for statistical analysis, machine learning, and data manipulation.
  • Strong SQL capabilities and experience working with large-scale datasets.
  • Experience building predictive models, customer analytics solutions, and forecasting models.
  • Ability to communicate complex analytical findings in a clear and business-focused manner.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is advantageous.
