Overview
We are seeking a Contract Embedded Software Engineer to support a time-critical project for an established engineering technology firm focused on electronic systems in transport and infrastructure. This position is designed for immediate start on a 2-month contract, with hybrid working options and potential for extension. The successful candidate will collaborate within a small engineering team, contributing to crucial modifications of an embedded platform and ongoing product development activities.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded software solutions using C for existing platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering team members on project requirements and modifications.
- Implement software improvements for STM32 microcontrollers.
- Integrate and test applications within Real-Time Operating Systems such as Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
- Support various product development initiatives across the team.
- Participate in technical discussions and design reviews as needed.
- Ensure compliance with project timelines and deliverables.
Requirements
- Strong experience in Embedded C programming.
- Proficiency with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) like Zephyr or FreeRTOS.
- Experience with STM32 microcontrollers.
- Knowledge of train operating systems or TDRP is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Prior experience in software development for electronic systems is preferred.
- Contractor must have an OUTSIDE IR35 determination, allowing for operation through a PSC.
