Overview
We are looking for a seasoned, hands-on Fractional Finance Director (FD) or CFO to lead a fixed-price project focused on the year-end finalization and financial audit of our accounts. The contractor will work closely with our executive team and external accountants to establish a clean financial baseline and identify compliance gaps. Upon successful completion of this initial phase, there may be an opportunity to transition into a retainer-based role focusing on ongoing financial transformation and strategic governance support.
Responsibilities
- Drive the completion and finalization of year-end accounts in collaboration with external accountants and tax advisors.
- Conduct a comprehensive review of existing accounts and internal accounting processes to ensure accuracy.
- Identify financial vulnerabilities and establish a financial remediation roadmap.
- Design and implement monthly management reporting packages and cash flow forecasting models for the business.
- Establish tracking of project margins, billable utilization, and client account profitability.
- Build annual budgeting frameworks aligned with sales pipelines and resource planning.
- Define policies for working capital management and strategic investments.
- Advise senior leadership on commercial inputs and major growth decisions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a consulting or professional services environment, with a solid understanding of consultancy economics.
- Demonstrated experience in transitioning founder-led businesses to structured finance operations.
- Background in fractional CFO or FD roles, with a track record of quick and structured outcomes.
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience.
- Ability to perform both hands-on auditing and strategic advisory roles effectively.
- Familiarity with financial governance and reporting standards related to consultancy-grade operations.
- Strong analytical skills for gap analysis and developing financial roadmaps.
- Flexible and capable of managing both operational and strategic responsibilities.
