Overview
The Interim Financial Controller will lead a significant payroll review and assurance project for a private equity-backed business services group. This high-profile role requires hands-on involvement in reviewing, validating, and analyzing historical payroll data to ensure accuracy and integrity, while collaborating closely with finance and payroll teams to drive the project to resolution within a set timeframe.
Responsibilities
- Lead detailed reviews of high-volume historical payroll data.
- Validate payroll calculations and investigate discrepancies.
- Perform detailed analysis and reconciling of large datasets.
- Identify exceptions, trends, and areas needing further investigation.
- Assess payroll processes, controls, and ensure data integrity.
- Maintain a clear audit trail and documentation of findings.
- Support audit queries with clear evidence and analysis.
- Drive the project through to resolution within the required timeframe.
Requirements
- Significant hands-on payroll experience is essential.
- Experience in complex payroll reviews, remediation, assurance, or audit projects within large organizations.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with substantial data interrogation.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
- Understanding of detailed payroll calculations is essential.
- Experience with Ciphr is advantageous but not essential.
- Availability to start immediately or at short notice.
