Overview
The Android Developer will join a collaborative software team focused on delivering practical solutions within the defence sector. This role involves designing, building, and deploying Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, while collaborating with customers and technical stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle. The position requires onsite attendance in Cheltenham three days a week and focuses on producing reliable applications that incorporate real-time device data and offline capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop reliable Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Contribute to application design and implementation based on customer needs.
- Design and implement backend services using Rust or Go as needed.
- Manage code with Git and collaborate effectively with the team.
- Support CI/CD pipelines for automating software testing and deployment.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Participate constructively in code reviews and provide feedback.
- Stay current with technological advancements and uphold engineering standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Android application development.
- Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Familiarity with backend development using Rust or Go.
- Experience with web APIs, cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), and IoT integrations.
- Competence in using Git for version control and understanding CI/CD practices.
- Ability to document software clearly and follow engineering standards.
- Must be a sole British national eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance.
- Minimum of five years of UK residence with limited time spent outside the country during that period.
