Overview
The Lead EHV Commissioning Engineer will spearhead the commissioning of a 275kV XLPE cable system as part of a significant net zero project based in Teesside. This role involves a high level of responsibility for developing and managing the commissioning strategy, overseeing testing processes, and coordinating with various stakeholders, including National Grid interfaces. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring successful energisation of the project, making it an exceptional opportunity for those with considerable experience in transmission voltage commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end commissioning strategy and programme from planning to energisation.
- Lead the test regime, including conducting tests and interpreting results.
- Manage the National Grid interface, including outage planning and energisation procedures.
- Prepare and oversee commissioning procedures, SAT documentation, and final handover pack.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including OEMs and specialized testing providers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant transmission authorisations and standards.
Requirements
- Extensive commissioning experience at transmission voltage levels (275kV or 400kV) on cable systems.
- Previous roles as a Commissioning Engineer, Lead, or Manager.
- In-depth knowledge of EHV cable systems, including joints and terminations.
- Direct experience with National Grid commissioning, outages, and energisation processes.
- Hold TP141, BP141, SAP, or equivalent transmission authorisations.
- Current authorisations will enhance the compensation range offered.
