Overview
The Controls & Commissioning Engineer will oversee PLC and HMI software testing and commissioning activities across various projects and locations. This role involves collaboration with engineering and project teams to ensure that controls systems operate effectively, addressing technical challenges directly, and facilitating project milestones. The ideal candidate will apply their extensive experience in controls engineering within settings such as industrial, marine, or oil & gas environments.
Responsibilities
- Support PLC and HMI software testing, verification, programming, and troubleshooting using Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, and Rockwell Studio 5000.
- Deliver FAT, Pre-FAT, iFAT, SAT, and commissioning activities, including loop checks and functional testing.
- Conduct I/O verification, control system testing, and instrumentation troubleshooting in various environments.
- Produce and review documentation such as FDS, Control Philosophy documents, and Cause & Effect Diagrams.
- Assist in circuit protection design, cable sizing, and functional electrical schematics using AutoCAD Electrical.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to PLC, HMI, instrumentation, and controls systems.
- Work collaboratively with engineering teams, suppliers, and clients to ensure readiness for key project milestones.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Controls / Instrumentation & Control Engineer.
- Proven expertise in Siemens TIA Portal, Siemens WinCC, and Rockwell Studio 5000.
- Experience in conducting FAT, Pre-FAT, iFAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
- Strong background in I/O verification and control system testing, including ATEX/hazardous area environments.
- Familiarity with IEC 61508, SIL concepts, and Safety Instrumented Functions (SIF).
- Hands-on experience with pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
