Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer for a 9-month contract role, with potential for extension, to support a major public sector technology initiative. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Programme Team, Data Architect, and external suppliers to design, build, and optimize data pipelines and platforms. This role primarily involves remote work, with occasional onsite presence required in the West Midlands.
Responsibilities
- Design and build data pipelines and platforms to support project goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
- Perform data transformation and implement ETL/ELT processes.
- Optimize data processing and storage solutions for efficiency.
- Communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar technical role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, or Java programming.
- Experience with data transformation and ETL/ELT processes.
- Familiarity with data warehousing solutions and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data architecture best practices.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must hold or have previously held SC and/or NPPV3 clearance.
