Embedded Software Engineer

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to contribute to a modernisation programme for embedded systems. The role involves hands-on firmware development and collaboration with a technical team, focusing on improving security and resolving technical challenges in an established embedded platform. This position allows for both onsite and remote work, providing flexibility while engaging with a skilled group of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ firmware for ARM-based microcontrollers.
  • Investigate complex firmware and hardware/software integration issues.
  • Perform on-target debugging using JTAG, SWD, and other techniques.
  • Support firmware security improvements and remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Contribute to automated build/release processes and CI/CD practices.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with Embedded C.
  • Familiarity with ARM microcontrollers and RTOS/bare-metal development.
  • Good understanding of interrupts and concurrency management.
  • Practical experience with debugging tools such as JTAG and SWD.
  • Knowledge of embedded security principles and cryptography.
  • Ability to work independently on complex technical problems.
