Health And Safety Manager

Overview

The Health and Safety Manager will oversee all health, safety, and wellbeing activities for a major civil infrastructure project on a two-year freelance contract. The role involves leading a team and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, while supporting project delivery in collaboration with various stakeholders. This position reports directly to the Head of Health, Safety and Wellbeing in the UK and Ireland.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and delivery of the project’s health and safety strategy.
  • Manage a team to achieve compliance with legislation and client requirements.
  • Conduct project inspections, audits, and assurance activities.
  • Act as the principal health and safety advisor to the Project Director and senior leadership.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific health and safety management plans.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to ensure learning and improvement.
  • Monitor performance and facilitate health and safety meetings.
  • Provide high-quality health and safety training across the project team.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in health and safety leadership on major construction or infrastructure projects.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or NEBOSH Construction Certificate with substantial experience.
  • Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards chartership.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and its application.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading incident investigations and audits.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Power BI, and document management systems.
  • Experience in behavioral safety, occupational health, and wellbeing.
