Overview
As a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in battery systems, you will contribute to the development of next-generation aircraft systems in a pioneering aerospace organization. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards while directly impacting the future of sustainable flight. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting robust design processes from concept through to manufacture, addressing complex engineering challenges in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Produce high-quality engineering models, drawings, and documentation to support product development and certification activities.
- Perform tolerance stack analyses and apply GD&T principles to ensure manufacturability and product performance.
- Collaborate with systems, structural, manufacturing, and certification teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Support design reviews and incorporate feedback from stakeholders and programme teams.
- Investigate and resolve engineering issues arising during development, testing, and manufacturing phases.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Support prototype builds and test activities as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within the Aerospace industry.
- Strong proficiency with CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE.
- Excellent understanding of tolerance stack analysis and geometric dimensioning & tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience designing complex mechanical assemblies and components for manufacture.
- Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a methodical approach to engineering challenges.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with battery systems experience being highly beneficial.
