Overview
The Mechanical Design Engineer will take ownership of the mechanical design for a critical product program within a small, fast-paced engineering team. Working on-site, the contractor will engage in hands-on design tasks, including detailed 3D modeling and tolerance analysis, while collaborating closely with other engineers to deliver precision, regulated hardware according to established standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models in SolidWorks for single components and full assemblies.
- Conduct tolerance analysis and stack-ups on safety-critical parts.
- Create technical drawings to GD&T standards, ensuring clarity for manufacturing.
- Design for manufacture of plastic parts, specifically for injection molding.
- Prepare design documentation and test work for regulatory review.
- Collaborate with a small team to make quick design decisions.
Requirements
- Proven experience in mechanical design engineering with competency in SolidWorks.
- Background in regulated sectors such as aerospace or medical device design.
- Experience working to ISO requirements and established design processes.
- Familiarity with design for manufacture of injection-molded parts is advantageous.
- Experience with drug delivery or safety-critical devices is a plus.
