Overview
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical sub-modules for integration onto advanced defence platforms. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, the contractor will utilize CAD design skills to deliver high-quality mechanical solutions within a multidisciplinary team. This contract role is ideal for an experienced engineer with a background in advanced manufacturing and a passion for innovative design.
Responsibilities
- Design mechanical sub-assemblies and components for integration onto platforms.
- Develop detailed 3D models and engineering drawings using Creo.
- Manage and maintain design data within Windchill PLM systems.
- Support design reviews and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver solutions on time.
- Liaise with manufacturing suppliers and production facilities for rapid prototyping.
- Recommend suitable materials, manufacturing processes, and design-for-manufacture strategies.
Requirements
- Proven mechanical design engineering experience.
- Proficiency in PTC Creo CAD software and AAX plugin.
- Experience using Windchill for product data and configuration management.
- Strong background in managing complex international supply chains and supplier networks.
- Familiarity with advanced manufacturing processes in the defence industry is a plus.
