Overview
We are seeking an experienced Network Field Engineer to support the PSBA End-of-Life Network Refresh Programme primarily across customer sites in Wales. The successful candidate will focus on the physical installation and verification of Cisco and Juniper network equipment, collaborating with remote Network or Project Engineers for configuration and migration activities. This role involves both on-site technical work and direct support during network refresh operations over the duration of approximately 18–24 months.
Responsibilities
- Attend customer sites to support network refresh and migration activities.
- Remove end-of-life routers, switches, and associated equipment.
- Install, rack, cable, and power pre-configured Cisco and Juniper network equipment.
- Verify power, interface status, physical connectivity, and equipment health.
- Troubleshoot basic hardware, cabling, optics, and connectivity issues.
- Record asset details, including models, serial numbers, and installed locations.
- Complete installation records, test results, and project sign-off documentation.
- Participate in out-of-hours change windows as required.
Requirements
- Experience installing and replacing enterprise routers and switches.
- Practical experience with Cisco and Juniper routing and switching equipment.
- Understanding of copper and fibre network connectivity.
- Ability to interpret implementation plans, network diagrams, and method of procedure documentation.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites in Wales.
- Good hardware and connectivity troubleshooting skills.
- Accurate asset-recording and documentation skills.
- Cisco CCNA or Juniper JNCIA certification is desirable.
