Overview
The Principal Risk Engineer will play a key role in leading the evolution of risk technology for a global commodities trading company. This senior position will work closely with various stakeholders, including technology, trading, and risk teams, focusing on the delivery of critical risk technology capabilities and the enhancement of automated and scalable risk platforms.
Responsibilities
- Own the delivery and evolution of critical CTRM and risk technology capabilities.
- Lead the onboarding, integration and implementation of new CTRMs and related platforms.
- Provide senior technical leadership across risk technology initiatives.
- Lead and develop a small team of highly capable technology professionals.
- Act as a senior escalation point for complex technical and operational issues.
- Collaborate closely with trading, risk, technology and business stakeholders.
- Drive improvements across platform scalability, automation, reliability and performance.
- Help define the technology roadmap and bridge existing CTRM capabilities with future-state platforms.
Requirements
- Significant experience within commodities trading, financial markets, CTRM or risk technology.
- Strong understanding of trading workflows, trade lifecycle and market risk.
- Proven experience implementing, integrating or onboarding complex CTRM or risk platforms.
- Strong technical background with experience in Python, APIs, databases, data platforms and distributed systems.
- Experience leading, mentoring or managing technical teams.
- Ability to operate comfortably between detailed technical discussions and senior stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of scalable, high-performance technology environments.
- Experience working closely with trading, risk and technology teams.
