Overview
We are seeking an experienced Product Engineer with a backend focus to contribute to a technology-driven company developing software solutions in the energy and trading sectors. The successful candidate will collaborate with a talented engineering team to design and build scalable billing, pricing, and settlement systems, leveraging Python and TypeScript within a remote work environment. This role offers the opportunity to influence technical direction and engage with complex commercial business rules and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and own backend services primarily in Python.
- Build scalable functionality for billing, pricing, and commercial platforms.
- Develop APIs and workflows to process high volumes of transactional data.
- Model complex business rules and financial calculations.
- Collaborate with Product teams to design solutions from first principles.
- Contribute across the tech stack, utilizing TypeScript where appropriate.
- Enhance reliability and scalability as the platform evolves.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience.
- Strong production-grade Python expertise.
- Experience building billing, settlement, pricing, or payments platforms.
- Knowledge of the energy sector, utilities, or financial trading is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with data-heavy systems and complex business logic.
- Demonstrated product mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience in startup or scale-up environments is advantageous.
