Overview
We are looking for an experienced Contract Ruby Developer to join our dynamic engineering team for an initial 6-month contract, with potential for extension. This fully remote role focuses on developing and maintaining modern, scalable software applications using Ruby. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance existing systems and support the development of new features in an agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Ruby, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following best practices.
- Develop and integrate APIs and backend services to support application features.
- Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features on time.
- Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge sharing sessions to improve engineering practices.
- Support the ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of existing systems.
- Implement automated testing strategies to ensure code quality and system stability.
- Contribute to continuous integration and deployment processes to streamline delivery pipelines.
Requirements
- Proven commercial experience working with Ruby in a professional setting.
- Experience with Ruby on Rails or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of RESTful API development and consumption.
- Solid knowledge of software engineering best practices and principles.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and writing maintainable, high-quality code.
- Familiarity with modern development workflows including CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies and teams.
- Excellent communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
