Overview
We are seeking a Senior Android Developer to work on critical security components of a UK government Android application. This contract role, which is remote-first, requires expertise in mobile security and will involve collaboration with a mobile platform team. You will play a key role in building and maintaining app functionalities, while ensuring the app's security and stability.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve the common components of the Android app using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Apply secure coding practices in line with OWASP MASVS for authentication and data handling.
- Review code for security issues and participate in peer reviews.
- Monitor app performance with Crashlytics and address stability issues post-release.
- Collaborate closely with QA and backend engineers to identify and flag technical or security risks early.
- Integrate features developed by other teams into the app seamlessly.
Requirements
- Several years of commercial experience in native Android development with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Hands-on experience in mobile security practices, including secure authentication and storage.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Mobile Top 10 and MASVS standards.
- Ability to articulate security risks associated with various protective measures.
- Experience using Crashlytics for application stability.
- Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced team and contributing in code reviews.
- Eligibility for SC clearance, including residency in the UK for the last 5 years.
