Overview

The Wealth 1st Line Risk & Conduct SME will play a pivotal role in the development of a new UK Wealth proposition, focusing on the integration of risk, regulatory, and compliance considerations throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborating with multiple stakeholders across various teams, this position is essential for ensuring that client experiences align with regulatory requirements and expectations. The contractor will contribute to the establishment of operational foundations that support a high-quality, client-centered wealth management service.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist 1st Line risk input into the design of the new UK Wealth proposition.
  • Co-create client journeys, product features, and governance arrangements in line with regulatory standards.
  • Identify key risk considerations including conduct and compliance issues that need to be addressed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify regulatory gaps and control requirements prior to launch.
  • Support the definition of 1st Line control ownership and governance processes.
  • Challenge design choices to mitigate unnecessary regulatory and client outcome risks.
  • Contribute to launch readiness materials by capturing regulatory and risk requirements.
  • Provide input into programme governance regarding key risks and decisions needed for successful launch.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in 1st Line risk, regulatory, or compliance roles within UK wealth management or related financial services.
  • Strong understanding of FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, and conduct risk principles.
  • Familiarity with end-to-end client journey assessment and proposition design.
  • Experience in new product delivery within a regulated environment, including governance processes.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders across various departments.
  • Skill in translating regulatory requirements into actionable design elements.
  • Confidence in constructively challenging decisions related to compliance and client outcomes.
  • Capable of delivering results in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
