Overview
We are seeking a Senior Azure Cloud Platform Engineer for a long-term contract role focused on enhancing a large-scale Azure environment. This hybrid position requires working on-site two days a week in the Yorkshire area while participating in an on-call support rota. The contractor will play a critical role in designing, building, and automating platform services to ensure operational excellence and support key business services.
Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and enhance Azure platform services.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Improve Azure Landing Zones, governance, and security controls.
- Automate cloud deployments and operational processes.
- Manage Azure networking, connectivity, and platform resilience.
- Enhance monitoring, logging, and observability across the platform.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver scalable cloud capabilities.
- Support cloud modernization initiatives and adoption of emerging Azure technologies.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Microsoft Azure in large enterprise environments.
- Proficiency in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience with Azure Landing Zones, Policy and Governance.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, and Privileged Identity Management (PIM).
- Familiarity with Azure Networking including Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, Private Endpoints, and DNS.
- Experience with Azure Firewall, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and Azure Front Door.
- Proficiency in Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and observability tooling.
- Strong platform engineering and automation experience.
