Business Analyst

Overview

The Business Analyst will play a crucial role in a strategic data platform transformation programme, contributing to a project for a respected Azure specialist MSP. This 11-day contract involves leading focused discovery sessions, engaging with operational stakeholders, and translating complex requirements into actionable deliverables, all while navigating a challenging environment of legacy systems and significant data volumes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discovery workshops with various stakeholders including operational, forecasting, product, IT, and data teams.
  • Capture current-state processes, systems, workflows, and data flows.
  • Identify bottlenecks, manual processes, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop future-state process documentation and operating-model recommendations.
  • Gather and document functional, non-functional, and business requirements.
  • Produce process maps, BPMN diagrams, data-flow diagrams, user stories, and requirements backlogs.
  • Analyse data ownership, quality, stewardship, lineage, and governance requirements.
  • Support the creation of data dictionaries, business glossaries, KPI definitions, and data-quality rules.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years' experience in Business Analysis.
  • Experience with data, analytics, or platform-transformation programmes.
  • Strong skills in workshop facilitation and stakeholder management.
  • Proven ability to document complex business processes and data flows.
  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, quality, and ownership.
  • Proficient in creating structured, delivery-ready documentation.
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguous environments with legacy systems.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, or Miro is beneficial.
