Overview
We are seeking a Senior C++ Software Engineer for a contract role focus on modernising a legacy business-critical software platform. The contractor will join a technology consultancy team, working fully remotely, and will engage in the lift-and-shift migration of a Windows-based case management application to Microsoft Azure. This hands-on position will involve addressing complex technical challenges, contributing to design decisions, and mentoring team members.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain an established C++/Windows application.
- Support the migration of on-premise infrastructure to Azure.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues.
- Contribute to solution design and architecture decisions.
- Work with CI/CD pipelines to enhance build and release processes.
- Review code and mentor other engineers.
- Collaborate with engineering, platform and infrastructure teams to manage dependencies.
Requirements
- Strong experience in C++ application development.
- Background in Windows desktop application development, especially with legacy systems.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud migrations.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and release automation.
- Experience with maintaining and modernising legacy software applications.
- Strong debugging and technical design skills.
- Ability to take ownership of complex tasks and support team members.
