Overview
We are seeking a skilled Full Stack Engineer to contribute to a greenfield digital transformation project in the Defence sector. This role involves building a new TypeScript application from the ground up, engaging in both front-end and back-end development, and collaborating with a technical team to ensure successful feature delivery and adherence to best practices. The position offers a hybrid working arrangement, requiring 1-2 days on-site in Portsmouth every fortnight.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and deliver full-stack applications using TypeScript, React and Node.js.
- Build responsive, accessible user interfaces aligned with WCAG 2.2 AA standards.
- Develop and integrate REST APIs, databases, and messaging services.
- Design and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas and queries.
- Write and maintain unit, integration and end-to-end automated tests.
- Develop, maintain and troubleshoot CI/CD pipelines and containerised deployments.
- Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
- Collaborate with designers, developers and stakeholders within an Agile delivery environment.
Requirements
- 5+ years' commercial software development experience, with strong full-stack delivery experience.
- Strong TypeScript development across front-end applications.
- Extensive experience with React and modern CSS, familiar with WCAG 2.2 AA requirements.
- Strong Node.js experience including REST API development and integration.
- Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimisation.
- Experience with automated testing, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Solid knowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions.
- Practical experience with Docker and containerisation technologies.
