Overview
We are seeking a Senior AWS Platform Engineer to lead the development of a multi-million-pound greenfield AI platform within a FTSE100 Investment Management firm. The contractor will be responsible for shaping the AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring automation and reliability while mentoring engineering teams. This role focuses on building robust platform foundations, enabling teams to deliver AI-enabled products safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement the AWS platform foundations, including multi-account architecture and landing zones.
- Develop engineering standards and establish best practices to simplify service deployment and management.
- Drive the automation of infrastructure, pipelines, and policies to enhance reliability and cost-efficiency.
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, influencing technical direction and collaboration across departments.
- Elevate AI platform capabilities from initial concepts to a production-ready service environment.
- Ensure compliance with cloud security standards and policies in a regulated setting.
- Facilitate effective communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
- Extensive hands-on experience with AWS platform architectures, including multi-account environments and landing zones.
- Expertise in Infrastructure as Code, preferably with Terraform; familiarity with CloudFormation or CDK is a plus.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash for automation and tooling development.
- Proven experience with CI/CD processes, containerization, and orchestration using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Harness.
- Solid understanding of cloud security, identity management, and compliance standards like ISO and GDPR.
- Track record of designing scalable and resilient AWS solutions in complex enterprise environments.
- Experience in mentoring engineers and fostering technical excellence within teams.
