Overview
The Data Business Analyst will play a crucial role in a major global data transformation program for a leading retail business, focusing on the development of a cloud data platform in Snowflake and enhancing reporting through Power BI. This contractor will collaborate with senior stakeholders across various business functions, translating complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements for data engineers and reporting teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery with senior business stakeholders.
- Define KPIs, metrics, business rules, calculations, and data lineage.
- Harmonise data definitions across markets and functions.
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria and manage these through Jira.
- Work closely with data engineers, QA, and reporting teams throughout delivery.
- Use SQL and Snowflake to profile and validate data.
- Support testing and user acceptance.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to a shared metric dictionary.
Requirements
- 5+ years of Business Analysis experience with strong data, reporting, and analytics expertise.
- Proven experience defining KPIs, metrics, and data requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management and requirements skills.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and Snowflake.
- Experience with Power BI and cloud data platforms.
- Understanding of data modeling and layered architectures such as Bronze, Silver, and Gold.
- Experience working with financial and operational metrics in a multi-site retail or similar business.
