Overview
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a cloud-based data platform team that integrates trusted business information from various internal systems and applications. In this hybrid role, the contractor will work collaboratively with IT and business end-users to create and optimize data pipelines, ensuring accuracy and accessibility of core datasets. This position focuses on enhancing the platform's capabilities and providing technical support while actively engaging with other teams to meet their data needs.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines from internal databases and SaaS applications into the cloud data platform.
- Continuously develop and enhance the platform's data provisioning, modeling, and performance capabilities.
- Produce and maintain clear architecture and systems documentation.
- Partner with business functions and IT teams to scope data needs and deliver solutions.
- Provide ongoing technical support, monitoring, and troubleshooting for the data platform.
- Act as a technical point of reference, sharing expertise and best practices across the team.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in a STEM discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong proficiency in a modern programming language such as Python, Java, JavaScript, or Scala.
- Strong SQL skills for querying and analyzing structured data stores.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and deploying data pipelines.
- Experience with a modern public cloud data platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- Experience with version control tooling.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills.
- Experience with root-cause analysis of production incidents and debugging code defects.
