Overview
We are seeking a Senior Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Engineer to contribute to critical project work for a leading organization. This role focuses on delivering advanced geospatial solutions and requires a candidate with a strong consultancy background who can effectively collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and engage with stakeholders. The position is fully remote, offering flexibility while requiring a rapid availability to start work.
Responsibilities
- Deliver geospatial solutions in large-scale, data-driven environments.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Design, build, and support scalable geospatial data platforms and services.
- Develop geospatial data ingestion, transformation, validation, storage, and publishing pipelines.
- Optimize spatial datasets and services for performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Contribute to solution architectures, technical standards, automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Implement and manage spatial processing workflows following best practices in geospatial data engineering.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior GIS / Geospatial Consultant.
- Strong consultancy background with experience in multidisciplinary team environments.
- Demonstrable experience with geospatial data formats like GeoPackage, GeoTIFF, and Cloud Optimised GeoTIFFs.
- Hands-on experience with geospatial data pipelines and workflows.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and open-source geospatial technologies (GDAL, QGIS, OpenLayers).
- Good understanding of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern data architectures.
- Familiarity with Agile/GDS environments and DevOps practices.
