Overview
The Hardware Engineer will be responsible for designing safety-critical flight electronics within the context of advanced uncrewed aircraft systems. Collaborating with a team of engineers, the role focuses on developing multi-layer PCBs and ensuring they meet stringent industry standards for performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design multi-layer PCBs in Altium Designer for flight computers, power distribution, and sensor interfaces.
- Implement communication buses including CAN/CAN FD, RS422/485, Ethernet, SPI, and I2C.
- Design efficient, lightweight DC-DC converters and power circuitry.
- Conduct prototype bring-up and environmental testing to validate designs in harsh environments.
Requirements
- Advanced skills in Altium Designer, including high-speed layout and controlled impedance.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers, such as STM32; FPGA experience is a bonus.
- Hands-on lab skills in diagnostics, soldering, harness integration, and test automation using Python or LabVIEW.
- Understanding of industry standards such as DO-160G and MIL-STD-810.
