Overview
The Lead Data Architect will play a pivotal role in defining and executing the enterprise data strategy for a major consultancy client. This position involves collaborating closely with senior business stakeholders to assess and modernize a complex data estate while establishing governance frameworks and operating models. The contractor will leverage their expertise in data transformation to prepare the organization for advanced analytics and AI solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define the enterprise data strategy and transformation roadmap.
- Assess current-state data architecture and identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead Azure Databricks/Lakehouse transformation initiatives.
- Establish governance, metadata, lineage, and data quality frameworks.
- Design scalable operating models and Data as a Product approaches.
- Partner with CDOs, CIOs, and engineering teams to drive business outcomes.
- Prepare data foundations for AI and advanced analytics.
Requirements
- Proven experience in Enterprise Data Architecture or Data Transformation leadership.
- Strong knowledge of Azure, Databricks, and modern cloud data platforms.
- Experience with data governance, MDM, metadata, and lineage.
- Familiarity with operating models and organizational data transformation.
- Demonstrated executive stakeholder management within large enterprise environments.
- Experience in Financial Services or other regulated industries is highly desirable.
