Linux Engineer

Overview

The Linux Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, building, configuring, and supporting Linux infrastructure in both physical and cloud environments. The contractor will collaborate with IT teams to automate processes and manage Linux infrastructure projects, while also providing ongoing support and troubleshooting to ensure optimal system performance and security.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build Linux infrastructure across physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
  • Develop and maintain Puppet configurations and Shell scripts for automation.
  • Manage Linux infrastructure projects, including builds, upgrades, and migrations.
  • Enhance enterprise monitoring by responding to alerts and developing monitoring rules/scripts.
  • Provide BAU support, troubleshoot incidents, and ensure system availability and security.
  • Document infrastructure to maintain compliance and best practices.

Requirements

  • Strong experience as a Linux Engineer or Systems Engineer, ideally in an enterprise setting.
  • Proficient in Linux administration, particularly with Ubuntu and/or other major distributions.
  • Hands-on experience with Puppet and Shell/Bash scripting for automation.
  • Good understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and SNMP.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, particularly Azure; Windows/Active Directory experience is a plus.
