Overview
We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a contract role that involves developing and delivering complex mechanical designs for electronic and electromechanical products. The successful contractor will collaborate with a team of engineers across various disciplines throughout the product development lifecycle, from initial concept to production, ensuring that designs meet technical and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of mechanical design activities across various product development projects.
- Produce and develop detailed 2D drawings and 3D CAD models.
- Translate technical and customer requirements into practical mechanical design solutions.
- Support NPI projects from initial design concepts to product launch and production handover.
- Develop prototypes and conduct design reviews to validate mechanical performance.
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline with at least 5 years' relevant experience.
- HNC/HND candidates with substantial industry experience may also be considered.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with computer-controlled electrical or electronic products.
- Strong experience in mechanical design engineering using both 2D and 3D CAD.
- Experience in developing complex mechanical or electromechanical products.
- Knowledge of the complete product development lifecycle including NPI and production transfer.
- Familiarity with regulated engineering environments and compliance standards.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
