Overview
The Platform Development Manager will oversee the business-critical application estate during a transitional period, focusing on establishing AI and automation capabilities. Reporting to the Head of Technology Services, the contractor will lead cloud migration, SaaS adoption, and application rationalisation, ensuring service stability while driving transformation. This role plays a crucial part in shaping the future operating model of the function and requires collaboration with multiple teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and operational oversight across Application Platforms.
- Lead cloud migration initiatives and SaaS adoption efforts.
- Implement application rationalisation strategies.
- Establish governance, standards, and a delivery pipeline for AI and automation.
- Conduct proof of concept through to production for automation projects.
- Recommend future team structure and capability requirements before handover.
- Manage vendor and contract relationships within a complex organisation.
Requirements
- Extensive senior leadership experience in enterprise application services.
- Proven track record of leading application transformation and modernisation programmes.
- Strong commercial, vendor, and contract management skills.
- Experience with AI and automation capabilities is a plus.
- Familiarity with platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, and Azure is desirable.
- Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and ITIL delivery models is beneficial.
