Overview
This Senior Platform Engineer role is a 12-month contract position focused on enhancing a cloud-based media platform for a major UK media and entertainment group. The contractor will lead the architecture and development of platform components, oversee CI/CD pipelines, and manage a junior engineer, collaborating with external partners to address integration challenges in a hybrid working environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and development of cloud-based media platform components, including storage, ingest, and workflow services.
- Deploy and manage scalable cloud infrastructure according to enterprise standards.
- Design automation, scripting, and API integrations for media processing workflows.
- Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines for consistent software releases.
- Mentor and manage a junior Platform Engineer, promoting best practices in engineering and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Collaborate with external technology partners to resolve integration and architecture challenges.
Requirements
- Proven experience in media or broadcast production.
- Deep, hands-on CI/CD expertise, including pipeline design and management using GitHub Actions.
- Strong platform, cloud, or backend engineering experience, preferably at a senior level (5+ years).
- Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP cloud platforms.
- Familiarity with Terraform for managing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Proficient in Python, Go, or Node.js for automation and API development.
- Solid REST API integration skills across various technology stacks.
- Strong DevOps mindset with knowledge of Agile methodologies and TDD.
