Security Architect

Overview

The Security Architect role focuses on embedding security throughout the lifecycle of systems and services by applying Secure by Design principles. The specialist will provide independent security assurance and governance while collaborating closely with architects, engineering teams, and stakeholders to ensure solutions align with security requirements and best practices. This position requires significant experience in security assurance and offers the opportunity to make a substantial impact on security practices within an organization.

Responsibilities

  • Champion the adoption of Secure by Design principles across projects and programmes.
  • Provide security assurance throughout the system development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Review solution designs, technical architectures, and implementation plans for compliance with security policies.
  • Conduct security risk assessments and identify appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Support security accreditation and assurance activities for systems in secure environments.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, engineers, and stakeholders to embed security at project inception.
  • Evaluate technical solutions against security baselines and frameworks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in security governance and reporting.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in Security Assurance, Information Security, or Cyber Security.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of Secure by Design principles.
  • Experience working within secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of security architecture and secure system design.
  • Experience performing security risk assessments and documenting controls.
  • Understanding of the Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CCSP are desirable.
