Overview
The Security Consultant will play a pivotal role in supporting a major UK defence programme by engaging in security risk, compliance, and assurance activities. With a focus on ensuring that solutions adhere to government and defence security standards, the consultant will collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to assess and manage security risks in a complex government environment. This position demands strong experience in security practices, particularly within the MOD context, and offers the opportunity to work on high-profile initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Assess security risks and compliance within government environments.
- Support the implementation and assessment of security-by-design principles.
- Advise project and technical teams on security requirements.
- Support security assurance and risk management activities.
- Apply relevant defence security policies, standards and frameworks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and manage security risks.
- Assist in assessments against Cyber Assessment Framework (CAF) principles.
- Produce and review security documentation and assurance artefacts.
Requirements
- 3+ years of security experience.
- Previous MOD experience is essential.
- Active SC clearance is mandatory.
- Strong understanding of security risk and compliance within government environments.
- Experience with security-by-design principles.
- Knowledge of JSP 440, JSP 451, and JSP 453.
- Understanding of government security and assurance frameworks.
- Familiarity with ISO 27001 and broader information security standards.
