Overview
As a Senior Android Engineer, you will join a diverse consultancy team focused on enhancing a UK bank's Android app, leveraging Jetpack Compose to modernize the user interface. This role emphasizes collaboration, code quality, and user-centric design, as you work to deliver robust features in a remote-first environment. You will be part of a dynamic team that values testing and continuous improvement, significantly enhancing your portfolio with experience in regulated banking applications.
Responsibilities
- Build new features and screens in Jetpack Compose.
- Maintain XML and Data Binding screens while migrating them to Compose.
- Develop in Kotlin, with some legacy Java, utilizing an MVVM architecture with Hilt and Dagger.
- Consume REST APIs and maintain third-party SDKs.
- Write unit tests using JUnit and MockK to ensure code reliability.
- Debug applications on emulators and real devices, addressing performance issues.
- Review pull requests and actively participate in sprint planning and stand-ups.
Requirements
- Proven commercial experience with Android development in Kotlin, including Coroutines and Flow.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose, along with XML layouts and Data Binding.
- Familiarity with MVVM architecture and dependency injection frameworks such as Hilt and Dagger.
- Proficient in writing unit tests with JUnit and MockK.
- Understanding of mobile security principles, particularly for sensitive data and network calls.
- Experience in banking, fintech, or regulated applications is preferred.
- Experience with SAFe or other scaled agile frameworks is a plus.
- Knowledge of UI testing frameworks like Espresso or Compose is advantageous.
